Quiet Foggy Day in DC
As the holidays come, the people leave the Washington, DC area and a calm peacefulness resides in the air.
The Taft Memorial Bridge is a Classical Revival bridge and is the Highest Bridge in the DC area, and one of the longest reinforced concrete arch bridges built before World War II between 1897 - 1907. The bridge has been called an "engineering tour de force" and the largest unreinforced concrete structure in the world.
Named for President Taft and bounded by golden lions, the 7-span, decorative arch bridge spans the entire park connecting downtown DC to upper Northwest DC.
