As a photographer, I deal in the ‘now.’ Once an image is captured, the environment is seldom, if ever the same. In a split second I have the opportunity to document the essence of an event, person or environment, or completely miss the opportunity. When I succeed, my images have both power and a voice. I’m able to voice my perspective or opinion on topics for which my comments might otherwise be considered irrelevant, and I’m able to give a voice to those who are not able to speak for themselves, whether their imposed silence is due to poverty, political pressures, or fear.

My goal is for each of my images to tell its own story.

Timothy Lundin has been documenting the world around him in thoughtful, emotion-provoking photographs for over 10 years. His diverse work spans picturesque pastoral landscapes, lavish metropolitan occasions and contemporary political events.

Lundin first began as a travel and landscape photographer, shooting scenes from the deserts of New Mexico to the mountains of Colorado. Later, these two passions were easily intertwined for a smooth transition into photojournalism. Over the years, Lundin has traveled to over 30 countries on three different continents, capturing the life, events and intricacies of varied localities through a careful, respectful lens.

Lundin covered multiple political campaigns in the late nineties, including the Dole and Clinton rallies in Phoenix, days prior to the presidential election of 1996. While serving as a volunteer rescue worker, he also took time to tastefully document the devastating Ground Zero pit just days after the World Trade Center Twin Towers fell in New York City in 2001. Lundin chronicled the juxtaposition of beauty and poverty in Cuba mere weeks before Fidel Castro relinquished control to his brother Raúl in 2006, and more recently covered the history-making Inauguration Day of President Obama in 2009.

Lundin’s work has been published and viewed around the world. His photos have been displayed in local shops throughout the Midwest and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas, in both local and national newspapers across the country and world, and across diverse websites such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, The Independent and The Washingtonian.

Timothy Lundin currently resides in Washington, DC, where he is an active freelance photographer; he is available for assignments, travel and contract work.
